I can’t believe it finally happened… We are fully funded and ready to roll!
We actually got the approval a few weeks ago, but I was afraid to tell anyone until we signed the last bits of paperwork on Friday. And let me tell you, it was a long time coming…
We started this process back in January when, after years of careful thought and research, I completed our business plan. It then took 7 months of paperwork, phone calls, emails, waiting, getting shot down (twice), revamping the entire renovation plan, resubmitting, more waiting, pain, anguish, and sadness to get here. But it’s real! It happened! We have all the funds we need to make Twin Leaf a reality!
Some of you may wonder why we announced our location way back in January before we had all the money we needed. Well, we had discovered 144 Coxe Ave back in November, before we even knew there was such a thing as the “South Slope.” Shortly thereafter, businesses started announcing new locations in the neighborhood, and it became apparent that this quaint little section of town was about to boom.
So, rather than sounding like we were jumping on the bandwagon months down the line, we decided to announce our location as soon as we had secured it. We’re lucky to have a very helpful and understanding landlord who worked out a deal with us so that we could hold the space until the formal, long-term lease was signed (which we did a couple weeks ago, oh yeah!!).
So! What happens now? Well the first thing we did on Friday was order the brewing system (which I’ll probably give its own separate blog post, because, um… brewing system!!), since it takes quite a few months for the system to be manufactured.
In the meantime, over the next month we’ll be working with our contractor on the formal plans to present to the town so we can get all the permits we need to do the renovation. Then right around October 1, we’ll get in there and tear it up!! Once the space is outfitted, the brewing system will be installed, we’ll brew our faces off for about a month, and then we’ll have our grand opening! Right now we’re looking at February or March 2014. We’ll be ironing out the schedule in the coming weeks.
We’re insanely excited right now. Holy crap. And now, let the real work begin!
